Hiking along the Drainage Ditch and Meandering in the Bosque in Corrales 2/18/2022

Annette led this hike in Corrales starting at the Village Pizza Restaurant (where they would later have lunch.) They hiked to the Drainage ditch and headed north.  They crossed Corrales Road and meandered through the Bosque heading south.  They got back on the levee, crossed a bridge, then walked along the drainage ditch to the house with a purple garage door.  They headed back down the street to the Village Pizza where they stopped for a delicious lunch (see picture below!)  Depending on who's All Trails app you want to believe it was a 7 mile or a 7.5 mile long hike.  A very decent hike in spite of the meager elevation gain of 13 feet!  I wasn't able to make this hike, but we had three Hoofers who took over taking pictures!

Catching a group of animals in a huddle planning something

Sometimes the group talks more than they hike... but that is part of the fun!

My favorite part of the Bosque... the magnificent Cottonwood trees

And of course the beautiful views

And the chance of seeing all sorts of wild animals

The Once Mighty Rio Grande

Seeing unusual things like this.  Was this a precise beaver gnawing away?

What happens when the winds in ABQ blow

Natures art

Interesting Buildings

The beautiful Sandia Mountains

Cranes @ Football Practice

Beautiful horses

Interesting artwork

I would have taken this photo if I was there....this just isn't natural... some man had a hand in this!

Worth a second shot

Wow...looks like the Cranes are playing against the Geese...should be an interesting football game!

Interesting, Life Jackets required? I thought that if one fell into the water of the Rio Grande all you had to do was stand up and walk out....I mean, is it really deep?

This looks like one of those irrigation gates

This door was just too interesting to just throw away... works in the yard as a piece of art!

If you collect enough of anything you can use it to make a collage

I just hope this guy doesn't just steal these off cars in the parking lots

A porcupine in a tree...first time I have ever seen this!  Of course this could be a beaver, still the first time I have seen that too

After the hike the group all ate lunch at the Village Pizza Restaurant
The Hoofers: Lynda, Judy S., Joan, Barb, Sue--Bronwyn's guest, Tamara, Carol, Mary--Barb's guest, and Bronwyn, and behind the camera, not willing to attempt a selfie: our Leader, Annette!

Such a treat for lunch after the hike...I don't think they all shared this--at least I hope not!
