Thanks to Rita, the Hoofers who felt up to hiking had a nice little hike that is new to most of us. Jean P. found the hike and Rita wanted to do it again. Thanks to Tamara for the photos of the hike and Jean P. for the pictures of the wildflowers and the identifications making my job easier.
The Hoofers with masks: Linda, Rita, Mary B., Jean P., Jan, Hilda, Pat, and Karen B.
Slipping in third on the right is Tamara who did not want to do a Selfie group picture.
Deer Tracks but they saw no deer :(
An interesting rock on a fallen tree... to me it looks like a two-legged sheep laying down on a log for a nap
Switchbacking down the trail to the water reserved for fire fighting and making snow for the ski trails
The sign says Cibola Ridge....never heard of that. (BTW, the pictures came out in a mixed up order don't know why. They updated the Blog posting, and as usual it wasn't broke so they shouldn't have changed it...but now that they did, it is harder to rearrange things.... hopefully the more I use it I will be able to figure out how to fix things like that.)
Same rock as before
Wondering if there is a trail here or if you had to bushwhack?
Fossils
Spike Verbenna
Apparently these rocks have an interesting history that Rita and Mary and Hilda were discussing in great detail (too much sun?)
There is pond too bad there is a high fence around it, would make a great swimming hole!
Looking down at the base of the ski runs
Most likely more of those historical significant rocks
A fallen tree that was not there when Rita did the hike on Sunday
I am assuming that this was during lunch, but no one seems to be eating!
Social Distancing does not make for Happy Hoofers
Nice shot of ski lifts and what probably is the trails of the bikes who like to race down this hill...mountain, crazy young'uns
Wallflower
Amber waves of grain
Turkey feather....did anyone take this home? They look nice on your hiking hat!
This is the map of the hike that Tamara's phone made. As you can see they didn't stay on the trail all the time but took some shortcuts. (Is that legal?) Curious to know how long the hike would have been if they didn't do that...I have to get this App for my phone!!!
