The Happy Hoofers lost one of their own a few weeks ago. Our former leader and inspiration, Pearl, passed away in Centennial, CO on Monday, April 17, 2017
For those who were unable to attend the Memorial I took a few pictures to share with you.
In memory of our Pearl!
| I came late in the afternoon as I was on the clean-up committee and most of the crowd had dispersed but I managed to capture a few people who were still lingering |
There was a beautiful display of photos of Pearl's life

| I took some pictures of the slideshow capturing the moments of Pearl's life |
| Because of WWII and the need for nurses, Pearl became a nurse, this is Pearl tending to a patient in the emergency room |

Pearl's family

Thanks to Linda Buffet, Pearl was invited to join the "Happy Hoofers" where she has been an inspiration to us all. Below is a group picture of the earliest Happy Hoofers at a reunion party |
Pearl finished her career as the Director of Nursing at Anna Kaseman Hospital in 1980. She returned to college to obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biology and started her second career with the Sandia Rangers
| She climbed several 14'ers (mountains with elevations of 14000 ft or more) Her first one being at the age of 64. (Which tells me, I have no excuse not to try one!) |
Pearl's Biology degree and her talent for identifying wildflowers bloomed into her third career as a writer. She published 2 books with Larry Littlefield, "Wildflowers of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains of Central NM" (2011) and "Wildflowers of the Northern and Central Mountains of NM (2015). She also co-authored "Field Guide to the Sandia Mountains" (2005) with Jeanette Buffet and Tom Ferguson
| This is Pearl with her daughter Candace on her last 14'er |
| An unknown hiker, who was so impressed with Pearl, he wanted a picture with her. |
| A picture of Pearl with the signage for the Trail the Happy Hoofers adopted for her on her 80th Birthday |

| A picture of all the Happy Hoofers both current and retired who attended the Happy Hoofer Reunion |
